Our Story

The good news really had made it to the ends of the earth when thirteen familes formed Albany Baptist Church in 1905. For the next 84 years the church would meet on Aberdeen Street where the church grew and flourished.

In 1988 ABC moved into our current site on Bethel Way, Yakamia. The parcel of land where we meet was divided to include the church, Bethel Christian School and Bethel Aged Care.

Today the church is made up of a diverse group of people including families, retirees, youth and young adults. This includes a wonderful mix of Australians from different cultural backgrounds including Filipinos, Karen, Noongars and South Africans. The richness of the diversity is only surpassed by the unity we enjoy by being focused together on Jesus.

Our Mission

To spread a joyful passion for the Supremacy of God through a biblically shaped community.

  • To exalt the glory of our gracious God through a worshipping community.
  • To express the heart of our triune God through a relating community.
  • To honour the purpose of our holy God through a transforming community.
  • To proclaim the mission of our redeeming God through an evangelizing community.
  • To fulfill the desire of our loving God through a reconciling community.

What We Believe

  • Albany Baptist is an evangelical church that is on about the bible being read, taught and obeyed.
  • The Bible is God’s word and its focus is on His great rescue plan, saving people from the consequences of rebelling against Him.
  • Jesus is at the centre of that rescue plan, the obedient Son of God who died on a cross in our place. He rose from the dead and is both the only way to be saved and the king of all the world.
  • God calls us to turn from living our own way and to trust in Jesus.
